The plain version

How the referral works

Wichita Dry-Out Line is a referral service, not a restoration company. It has no crews or equipment and connects people in Sedgwick and Butler counties with independent local companies that do the work.

Right now this line takes requests by callback form only. A phone number will be added to this site when one is available. Where this page describes calls, it is how calls work once a number is shown.

What happens when you ask for help

Three steps

One short form
  1. You

    Describe the problem

Your town or ZIP code, what failed or flooded, roughly how much is wet, and whether anything smells of sewage.

  2. Your request

    Is passed on

Your form request is passed on to an independent restoration company serving your area that is taking work. When a phone number is shown on this site, calls are forwarded the same way, sometimes through a partner call network that matches calls to companies, and if they can't pick up, you can leave a voicemail.

  3. The provider

    Works with you directly

The company assesses the damage and gives its own estimate. Price, schedule, the work, any warranty and any paperwork are between you and that company.

If no company is taking requests yet

Sometimes no participating company is set up for your area. A request is then held by the referral line and passed on only when a company that covers your ZIP code is taking work, so you may not hear back. If water is spreading, do not wait on it: the checklists on this site still apply, and you are welcome to call any company you like. The callback form asks only for your name, phone, ZIP code and the type of problem.

Money

Who pays for this

You pay nothing for the referral. The request and the connection cost you nothing. The service is paid for by the restoration companies that receive referrals: they pay a fee for the calls and requests passed to them. That is a business relationship, and you should know it exists. It also means this site is not a neutral ranking or review service.

Any money you spend on actual work goes to the company you hire, on terms you agree with them. Get those terms in writing.

What this service does not do

  • It does not perform water removal, drying, cleaning, mold work, demolition or rebuilding.
  • It does not employ, supervise or guarantee the providers or their work.
  • It does not check providers' credentials or certifications on your behalf. Verify that any company you hire is qualified for the job, and ask for proof.
  • It does not handle, file or negotiate insurance claims, and it does not tell you whether a loss is covered.
  • It does not offer mold remediation referrals. A mold assessment is a separate specialist matter.
  • It does not set prices or take payment for any work.

If nobody is available

After a metro-wide storm or freeze, the companies taking referrals can fill up. If no participating provider can take your job, you may not hear back, and you are welcome to call anyone else. The checklists on this site still apply while you look.

Before you let anyone start

  • Ask for a certificate of liability insurance.
  • Get a written scope and estimate.
  • Ask for moisture readings at the start and the finish.
  • Read any contract or waiver before signing. The storm page has tips for hiring after a storm.

Your information

When you use the callback form, the details you give (name, phone number, ZIP code and a description of the problem) are shared with a service partner so a provider can contact you about your request. They are not sold to data brokers. The privacy policy has the full details, and the terms set out the ground rules.

Why a referral line exists

Because finding a restoration company with a truck available right now is harder than it should be, especially at night or after a storm. One request that goes to an available company saves calls. The guides on this site, from the cost guide to the Wichita flood and freeze guide, are written to be useful whoever you end up hiring.

Want a local company to call you back?

Send the callback form with your town, where the water came from and how much area is wet. When an independent restoration company that serves your part of Sedgwick or Butler County is taking work, your request is passed to it, and that company may call or text you. The referral costs you nothing, and hiring is your decision.
